Ram Head Palissy Majolica Vessel
This small footed cache pot is modeled in high relief in tin-glazed earthenware, with a densely sculptural exterior. The upper body features a prominent goat head with spiraling horns projecting from the rim, flanked by cherubs and foliate medallion elements. The base is rendered in a roughened sand-textured treatment, a technique associated with French majolica production of the period. The interior is glazed in characteristic verdigris green. The base is unglazed cream earthenware, set on four rounded bun feet. No maker's mark is visible.
Minor glaze wear throughout, consistent with age and use. All four feet intact. No visible repairs.
