Produced in Montereau before its 1840 merger with Creil, this fine earthenware plate features a transfer-printed figural scene in black on a vibrant yellow glaze ground. The central image—a narrative tableau rendered in crisp detail—is surrounded by a decorative floral border. This style of contrasting monochrome illustration over bright enamel backgrounds was a hallmark of Montereau faience during the early 19th century.
Surface wear and minor scratches consistent with age; stable glaze with light crazing and a few small firing imperfections.
