Pair of fluted Gallia metal vases with gilt finish, the lower body encircled by a stylised leaf garland in relief. Raised on square-section bases with rounded corners. Stamped beneath with the Christofle Gallia Métal rooster mark and model number 4850.
Gallia metal, introduced by Christofle in 1896, is a white metal alloy (tin, antimony, copper) developed as an affordable alternative to silver. Its malleability allowed refined Art Nouveau and Art Deco designs by leading artists, making Gallia an important medium for Christofle’s innovative decorative objects. Today, pieces in Gallia are prized for both their craftsmanship and their historic link to Christofle’s democratization of luxury.
Light wear to gilding consistent with age; minor surface marks; structurally sound.
