An impressive Delft faience vase attributed to the ’t Fortuyn factory, decorated in cobalt blue with a dense all-over floral design. The body is richly painted with large blossoms, scrolling foliage, and stylized cartouches, set against a bright white glaze ground, with the reverse displaying more restrained floral sprays.
The ’t Fortuyn factory, established in Delft in the 17th century, was one of the important faience manufactories of the period, producing both everyday wares and finely painted pieces that competed with those of De Klaauw and other leading potteries. Its production is particularly admired for its balance of bold baroque-inspired decoration and refined painterly detail.
Typical fritting and glaze wear to the rim and foot, with small chips and surface losses consistent with age and use.
